Concert will feature the music of Gordon Goodwin, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Tower of Power

The De Anza College “Daddios” Evening Jazz Bands present a concert of contemporary Big Band Jazz at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night, December 1st, at De Anza’s Visual and Performing Arts Center theatre, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Cupertino. The “Six O’Clock” and “Eight O’Clock” ensembles, directed by Steve Tyler, will perform a diverse program ranging from Stan Kenton and Count Basie to Tower of Power and Gordon Goodwin.
Special guest ensemble for the evening’s festivities will be San Jose’s Miller Middle School jazz band.
Program highlights will include Gordon Goodwin’s amazing rendition of George Gershwin’s immortal “Rhapsody in Blue,” Don Peistrup’s masterful “Goodbye Yesterday,” Dee Barton’s amazing, fiery opus for Stan Kenton, “Turtle Talk,” Tower of Power’s hit “Squib Cakes,” Count Basie’s swinging “Four Five Six,” and Marty Paich’s timeless arrangement for Kenton of “My Old Flame.”
Tickets are $7 general, $5 students and seniors, non-rerserved starting, and will be available at the door.

The De Anza College "Daddios" Evening Jazz Ensembles are in the forefront of preserving and presenting contemporary Big Band Jazz to the south San Francisco Bay Area community. The Daddios, regarded by many as being among the finest evening rehearsal jazz bands in Northern California, present regular concerts on campus, and appear at festivals and various venues in the bay area.
